I can’t recommend any shopping in Lao but in terms of food, there are some interesting dishes. Check out this site for a breakdown of typical Lao dishes

Itinerary

-we flew from Siem Reap to Luang Prabang (we needed a visa to Lao so make sure you do your research beforehand) and stayed at Mekong Riverview Hotel (www.mekongriverview.com). It was a nice hotel and the location was great. There was a wonderful deck to eat breakfast on overlooking the river

-you MUST wake up really early to watch the monks in their morning alms ceremony (check this out)

-you have to go visit the Kuang Si Falls: it’s an incredible way to spend the day and don’t forget your bathing suit

-nice to stroll around the Night Market to buy souvenirs
